Much of today was in line with the usual routine, but some parts of the usual routine are quite fascinating.
The "gym" class runs every Wednesday and Friday in the library. The library? Well, the shelves are flush against the wall leaving a big own carpeted space. Here is where we play dodge ball.
Balls are place on the top of mats in the centre of the room for teams to run to on our command. The kids playing have very little hand-eye coordination, so the results are always hilarious. Inevitably one team ends up being stronger than the other. When one team is getting destroyed a teach comes in to play for the losing team -but today was different.
But teams were almost perfectly matched. 6-6, 5-5, 4-4 .. until it came down to 1-1 and neither play could hit or be hit. We turned it into a sudden death round. Unless you caught the ball or picked it up off the groud a ball touching you would mean you're out. It ended pretty quickly after that.
Later in the day my older class went to do their vocabulary test. This was the class that got really into the action games and started yelling out the word -my proudest teaching moment yet. I'm pleased to say that 3 out of 5 students got perfect marks. We can expect good things from them.
