1. One kindergartner student helped to clean up after gym class. She was upset about the game but trying to not show it becausethe rule is that crying disqualifies you from getting one of two gym class stars. Then when putting a ball away she pinched her finger, badly, like there was a blood blister. She couldn't hold the tears anymore. I broke my rule about crying and gave her a gym class star for sacrificing her finger for the sake of cleaning up. It was basically giving her the kindergarten version of a purple heart of bravery.
2. The elementary class read a weird folktale about a lazy kid who turns into a cow, but then it was all just a dream. Which seems a pretty advanced concept for 8 year olds with 7 months worth of English education.
3. The older elementary class is basically playing Boggle. We roll the number cubes and they try to make as many words as they can. But then, spelling is... questionable.
