We decided to add shaking hands to the gym routine.
The students had it show up in a lesson and it occured to me that they had never seen it before -afterall shaking hands isn't even that common here. But since everyone seems to think these North American traditions are kind of cute we figured it would be a welcomed addition.
That and my class gets very invested in who wins and who loses. For the students, the biggest insult you can throw at anyone is threatening to not play with them. Almost every class, someone ends up crying because their team lost. It's getting way out of hand.
So we awkwardly lined up the two teams and had them shake hands. Next week I want to get them to start saying "good game" to each other. It should curb some of the post-game attitude.
